Stephanie J. Smith, RT(R), Co-Owner, Patient Care Liaison
I have been a southeast Texas resident most of my life. I was born and raised in Beaumont and was the valedictorian of the Central High School Class of 1990. I attended Texas A&M University and then transferred to Lamar University where I received a degree in radiologic technology with a summa cum laude distinction. It was at Lamar that I met my soulmate, Brandon K. Smith. Following graduation, I discovered that I had an affinity for working in clinics. I served as the lab/X-ray supervisor of the Tarrant County PrimaCare Medical Centers (now CareNow) prior to moving to Galveston, where Brandon was accepted to The University of Texas Medical Branch. I then gained experience on the insurance side of medicine through my work as a precertification specialist at UTMB. That all came to a sooner than planned, yet oh so joyful, halt with the arrival of our beautiful, firstborn daughter, Alexandria. We moved to Liberty in the summer of 2001 just prior to Brandon’s graduation as a physician assistant. I cherished my time as a stay-at-home mom with Alex and our family was made complete with the arrival of our precious baby girl, Trinity. Our path as a family was to take an unexpected turn in a few short years…or maybe not so unexpected.
From the beginning, I knew that Brandon had a God-given talent in medicine. I was soon to discover that I was to have a front-row seat to, or maybe, more accurately, a passenger seat in, Brandon’s amazing journey in healthcare! When we opened the doors to Firm Foundations Healthcare Clinic in 2008, I surprisingly found myself as one of the three employees there to assist him. It was only a few years before I returned to dedicating my time to our daughters and their education, but my love for my FFHC family has remained strong. I have had several titles both before, during, and after my years working at FFHC, but the most valuable to me are wife, mother, and friend. Maybe it is for these reasons that as my time nears to a close on this season of motherhood, and a new season of FFHC begins, I find myself drawn to return to assisting my husband not only at home but at his home-away-from-home and joining my work family in serving the community we love. I have returned to the clinic to work on our transition to the new facility this summer. In addition, I plan to serve as a patient care liaison starting in the fall. God is good in all His ways!
My favorite things to do are watching movie marathons with my family, laughing at our fur-babies, and going to Destin!
My “go-to” chapter of the Bible is Psalm 91 (look for it at 2708 Jefferson Drive!) and my driving verses for FFHC’s move are Ephesians 3:20-21.
